A number as your goal isn't enough.

Most step counters give you 10,000 steps as a goal, however much you walk today. Whether you make it, you only find out in the evening. AdaptiveSteps starts from your real average and splits the goal into short walks across the day.

01

A goal for your next walk

The app keeps working out how many steps your next walk needs: from what's still missing today, the time left, and how active you've been in the last hour. Sometimes it's 250 steps, sometimes 1,200, depending on how your day has gone so far.

02

A starting goal that fits you

During setup the app looks at your last two weeks and suggests a goal you can actually reach. If you walk 3,000 steps today, you won't get a 10,000 goal. The goal grows later, if you want it to.

03

Your day at a glance

Your walks are spread across the day, the next one highlighted. What you've done shows green; what you skip is spread over the rest of the day. You decide when to go.

04

A wrap-up without guilt

In the evening the app shows you how your day went, even when it fell short. Once a week a review asks whether your goal still fits. There are no points or badges.

Questions people ask

Where does my data go?

It stays on your device. The app reads steps from Apple Health. There is no account and no server.

Does the app count steps itself?

No. Apple Health is the one source, including steps counted by other apps or the watch. For the last few minutes the app adds the motion sensor.

What if I skip a day?

Tap “Skip today”. The day doesn't count, your streak stays intact and you get no reminders.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No. The app works on the iPhone alone. With a watch, reminders come to your wrist.
